Public Projects

The project includes the furnishing of labor, material and equipment for the rehabilitation of Runway 6/24 and Taxiway A associated airfield lighting and signage.

The project will include replacement of the rotating beacon three obstruction lights, all located on ridges near the airport. The existing lights and towers will be removed and replaced with new lights and new tipdown poles

The project will include approximately 11,500 linear feet of 10’ high perimeter fencing with barbed wire and wildlife exclusion skirt. The fencing will include four 24’ wide swing gates.

Schedule I - The project scope will include the construction of one, 10-unit T-Hangar building with associated taxilanes and auto access. Site preparation will include around 4,000 cubic yards of grading, about 775 linear feet of storm drain pipe, about 1,200 tons of asphalt paving, and utility services for the new hangar building (water, sewer, electric). Schedule II - The project scope will include the construction of two, 10-unit T-Hangar buildings with associated taxilanes and auto access. Site preparation will include around 4,500 cubic yards of grading, about 900 linear feet of storm drain pipe, about 1,800 tons of asphalt paving, and utility services for the new hangar buildings (water, sewer, electric). Schedule III - The project scope will include the construction of two, 10-unit T-Hangar buildings with associated taxilanes and auto access and an apron rehabilitation. Site preparation will include around 5,300 cubic yards of grading, about 850 linear feet of storm drain pipe, about 3,000 tons of asphalt paving, and utility services for the new hangar buildings (water, sewer, electric).

The project scope will include crack sealing and repair within the existing asphalt taxiway and runway. Quantities are estimated to be 17,000 linear feet of cracks less than ¼” wide and 17,000 linear feet of cracks between ¼” and 1 ½” wide. Also, the existing joints on the concrete apron will be routed and resealed with quantities estimated to be 30,500 linear feet.

The project will include the installation of a new wildlife prevention fence.

The Project includes the following Work: 1. Division 02 – Gravity Sewer a. Construction of 2,770 LF of 12” gravity sewer b. 390 LF jack and bore crossing of US Highway 321 2. Division 01 – Force Main a. Construction of 15,645 LF of 8-inch force main as follows: 1) 10,660 Lf 8-inch PVC 2) 4,350 LF 8-inch DIP 3) 635 LF 8-inch SDR11 HDPE installed by Horizontal Directional Drill b. Abandonment of portions of an existing 6-inch force main and air release valves. 3. Division 04 – Pump Station a. Construction of a 550-gpm duplex submersible wastewater pump station with associated 10-foot diameter wetwell. Work also includes associated electrical components, emergency generator, required site improvements, and access road.

Construction of approximately 5,640 LF of 12” DIP water main and associated appurtenances.

The work will consist of the construction of a new groundwater well on a 1-acre site on Brick Chimney Road with supporting equipment to support drilling to the Charleston Aquifer at an approximate depth of 1,200 feet. The well will include a pump capable of delivering 500 GPM and be supported by Variable Frequency Drive controllers, asphalt and gravel access, associated drainage, site fencing, piping, valves, electrical and SCADA/Control system, and appurtenances as well as a chlorination system housed in a prefabricated concrete building. The well will connect to the existing 10” waterline along Brick Chimney Road.

Construction of proposed permeable pavers at the intersection of Roland Avenue and South Shore Drive, which will reduce flooding on South Shore Drive. The proposed infiltration system includes approximately 315 linear feet of 15” RCP (Reinforced Concrete Pipe), five (5) standard NCDOT traffic bearing drop inlets, approximately 442 square yards of permeable pavers, traffic control, and minor utility relocations.
